Alstom, the French train maker, has recently announced its success in winning a lucrative tender worth approximately 900 million euros ($984.8 million) for maintaining the VLocity and Classic train fleet in Victoria, Australia. As part of this decade-long contract, Alstom aims to not only uphold the fleet's performance but also make significant strides in reducing fuel costs and carbon emissions through the implementation of advanced predictive maintenance technology.

To ensure seamless operations, the VLocity and Classic train fleets will be serviced at various locations including West Melbourne, South Dynon, and Ballarat East sites. This strategic decision by Alstom guarantees job security for hundreds of professionals in Victoria for the next ten years.

Moreover, the tender's positive impact extends beyond employment opportunities. Alstom is committed to boosting the local economy, with nearly all labor needs (98%) being sourced from Victoria itself. Furthermore, 69% of the maintenance materials required for the VLocity and Classic fleet will be supplied by local Victorian suppliers.
