Thai Shares Experience Gains

Thailand's stock market saw a rise on Friday, with the composite Thailand SET Index SET gaining 0.7% to 1,388.79.

Top Performers

During the session, technology company Jasmine International was the biggest leader, increasing by 6.7%. Another technology firm, Jasmine Tech Soln, also performed well, adding 6.1% to its shares. Indorama Ventures, operating in the basic materials/resources space, rounded out the top three leaders on Friday, with shares rising by 5.0%.

Declines in the Market

Real estate/construction firm Frasers Prop (Thailand) posted the largest decline, falling 3.9%. This was followed by shares of real estate/construction company Grand Canal Land, which fell by 3.7%. Thanulux also experienced a decline with shares falling by 3.6%.

Southeast Asian Market Updates

In other parts of Southeast Asia, Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index declined by 0.3%, while Malaysia's FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI increased by 0.4%. The Philippines' PSEi Index increased by 1.1%, and Indonesia's JSX Composite Index added 0.2%.

Asia-Pacific Market Highlights

Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index increased by 2.4%, while Japan's NIKKEI 225 Index rose by 0.9%. China's Shanghai Composite Index declined by 0.6%.

South Korea's KOSPI Composite Index increased by 0.8%, while the S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index of Australian stocks gained 0.9%.

Currency Updates

On the currency front, the U.S. dollar fell by 0.3% against the Thai baht, with the exchange rate at 34.79 Thai baht. The euro also experienced a decline, falling by 0.5% to 38.13 baht.
